How can a Windows virus end up on an iPod?

What does Ipod stands for?????
The word "iPod" doesn't stand for anything exactely,in the sense its not a completely an acronym.The name breaks down into two sections "i" and "Pod".The "i" is the common part of the name given by Apple to its products at the time ipod was released like iTunes,iBook,iMac. And "Pod" according to some source , stands for "Portable Open Database", a software which is used to run the iPod.

In October 2006, iPod ran into a bit of a snag regarding its Windows support, considered by many in the industry to be crucial to iPod's near-complete dominance in the portable media player market. One might think that because iPods are Apple devices, they're not susceptible to the viruses that plague Microsoft's Windows operating system. Apparently, not so. If you bought an iPod video between September 12, 2006 and October 18, 2006, there is, according to Apple, a 1 percent chance it contains a worm called RavMonE.exe.

The worm is of the sort that opens a "back door" on a PC so that a remote user can start controlling the infected computer. The iPod shuffles and iPod nanos shipped after September 12 are not infected with the malware; the worm does nothing to harm the iPod device itself; and people who only connect the iPod video to a Mac running Mac OS X will never activate the worm. The malware is in the Windows-support programs that live on the iPod.

The worm jumps into action when you connect an infected iPod video to a machine running Windows that is set to automatically run iPod applications when it detects a connected iPod. So the easiest way to make sure your PC doesn't get infected is simply to disable the autorun/autoplay capabilities in your iTunes interface. That way, you'll be prompted to approve each application the iPod software wants to run. If your computer asks you to run something called RavMonE.exe, also known as Win32.RJump.a, Troj/Bdoor-DIJ, WORM_SIWEOL.B, Backdoor.Rajump and numerous other names, just say no. In fact, it's probably best to put e-mail rules into effect and just say no to running anything that looks unfamiliar.

So how does this type of thing happen? Apple Vice President Greg Joswiak explains in a CIO Tech Informer article :

As you’re probably aware, the majority of iPod sales are made to Windows users, so we have some Windows terminals on our production line. We discovered that one of these computers was propagating this virus.
 The machine that was doing the infecting was apparently the last Windows machine on that particular production line -- the quality-control computer.

 If you do end up connecting an infected iPod to your PC, your anti-virus software should be able to detect it, so hopefully you won't get infected. If you do get infected, running a standard virus-detection-and-removal program should be able to clean your machine. Splotlighting News recommends that all Windows users who have connected a potentially infected iPod to their machine run one of these:
Microsoft Live OneCare Safety Scanner
Microsoft Live OneCare
McAfee
Symantec Norton Anti-Virus

Apple says that all iPods shipped as of October 18, 2006, are free of malware.

How to Give Her an Unforgettable Valentine’s Day Gift

A lot of men dread Valentine’s Day. Not only is the special lady in their life expecting Valentine’s Day to be romantic and unforgettable, she expect the same every year. How does a man keep from running out of ideas. Here is how to actually enjoy Valentine’s Day and get her the gift she won’t forget.

First and foremost, consider her personality. I mean really think about the traits that make her unique. Is she a humanitarian, an animal lover, a fashionista etc? Is she a great cook, an aspiring writer, loves the outdoors? Then buy her a gift that matches her personality.

Consider her lifestyle. Does she work 50 + hours a week? If so she could probably use a relaxing day at the spa, or just a facial if you’re a little strapped for cash. Does her home need cleaning or repairs? Do some repairs for her and if you’re not dying to clean her apartment hire a cleaning service to do it for you.

Imagine her surprise when she gets home and the place is sparkling clean, or the faucet is no longer running and you’re ready to take her out for an intimate candle light dinner. Or better yet, cook for her.Consider her needs . Perhaps she needs a new coffee machine, or some other appliance but has not had the money to buy a replacement. If you can afford it consider getting it for her.

Call her friends and find out if she’s told them about any gifts she’s like to receive. Ask whether or not she’s voiced wanting to buy something for herself lately. They might even know about something she really wanted to buy but didn’t for one reason or another. If they can’t tell you anything specific, buy her a gift card for her favorite store.

Be romantic. It’s Valentine’s Day. Whatever you get her, don’t forget to include the card. Or if you want to make her really happy, (happy enough to give you a surprise in bed) write her a love letter. Finally, do not forget to buy chocolates.

Happy Valentines Day!!

10 TIPS ON FINDING A JOB!!!

Times are hard, retrenchments are rife and companies are not queueing up to employ recently qualified matriculants, or graduates, for that matter.

So what do you do if you suddenly find your accounts piling up and there is no job to go to? All is not lost – there is much that you can do.

Let everyone know: Put the word out that you are looking for a job – tell all your friends, your parents' friends, teachers, people at the church and the sports club. Tell people you're prepared to do anything – many an unromantic part-time job that was well done, has led to greater things.

Be on the lookout: Lying in front of the TV moping is not going to get you anywhere – what are you waiting for? The perfect job to come knocking on your door? Check the newspapers regularly, scout the noticeboards at the community centre, listen to the radio. In short, be alert for any opportunity.

Lower your expectations: Many newly graduated people especially have grand ideas of what they would like to do and what they won't do. Fact is, the market is saturated and employers can pick and choose between myriads of applicants with decades of experience. Be prepared to do anything – if you work well, it will provide you with an entry point into a field of work and you can then work your way up. But you need to get in first. Also be modest in your salary expectations – unrealistic demands could lose you an opportunity.

Choose a field: If you want to work in retail management, take any job you can find in that particular environment, and work your way up. If it means starting on the shop floor as a sales assistant, see it as experience you're notching up. Don't get stuck in a dead end job in a field in which you have no interest. Dead end jobs are fine for a while if you need the money to pay the rent, but don't get stuck there.

Offer your services for free: This one has been known to work over and over again. Choose a company you would really like to work for, make an appointment and offer to work for them free of charge for three months. Make yourself indispensable and be a willing workhorse – if anything comes up, chances are you will be first and foremost in their minds as a possible candidate.

Update your CV: Make sure your CV is up to date – if a job possibility suddenly appears out of the blue, you want to be able to produce a CV within half an hour. Waiting two days, while you put together a CV, might just cost you a job.

Get marketable skills: If your skills are not very marketable – after all, how many job opportunities are there for graduates in anthropology or sociology? – equip yourself with marketable skills. Do a desktop publishing course, become computer literate, do a secretarial course – do whatever it takes.

Start your own business: Rather than wait around for a job to appear, create your own. Figure out what is needed in your community – this could be from car washing to babysitting to teaching extra lessons – and do something about it. This need not cost you a fortune to set up – your biggest expense will probably be a cell phone and a pay-as-you go contract.

Do all work as well as you can: Whatever you are given to do, whether it is selling samoosas at the bazaar or looking after kids during church services, do it as well as you can. If you are enthusiastic and make an effort, someone is sure to notice sooner or later.

Be friendly, willing and presentable: If you get an interview, take out the tongue ring – keep in mind who is the one with most to lose here. The interviewer owes you nothing. Don't be a Moaning Minnie – no one wants to work with someone who complains about everything. To get the job, you often have to look the part – accept it

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt take twins out in public on trip to Japan

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie showed off their baby twins Knox and Vivienne for the first time as the Brangelina brood flew in to Japan.

Pitt clutched six-month-old son Knox, who proved he had inherited his father's fashion sense. The pair wore matching grey sweaters and flat caps for their arrival at Tokyo's Narita International Airport.

Jolie followed behind with Vivienne, who was nestled in a sling and dressed in a white cashmere hat. The couple's other four children - Zahara, Pax, Maddox and Shiloh - were with them for the trip.

It is the first time the twins have been seen in public. Pitt and Jolie sold pictures of the babies to a magazine for a $14 million fee, which was donated to their charity foundation.
The family are in Japan for the premiere of Pitt's new film, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

They flew in from Los Angeles, where the couple attended the Screen Actors Guild Awards but left empty-handed. They are also up for acting awards at the Oscars next month, but neither is favourite to win.

Jolie disclosed before Christmas that they are planning to adopt a seventh child, and said the other children would be unfazed by yet another addition to the family. "We have so many children that they are not really stunned any more when kids come home," she explained.

WHY DO I STILL LOVE U??????

When Rain Wipe Away My Tears

I Cant Get You out of My head
No Matter how i try
I Still love You
Even when you make me Cry,

I want You in my Arms
I want you to be Mine
But You don't want me Now
You says it's Not our Time,

Relationships are hard Enough
But love makes them even Worse
Love Makes it hard to give Up
Love is a curse,

I Hate the fact I love You
And that i cant Get You out of My Mind
I hate that every time i think of You
My heart flutters and My eyes Cry,

I don't understand how you do this to Me
How You make Me want to Die
How I dream about you Every Night,

I 'd rather Cry and mope and Whine
Than call You to get things Straight
Because somewhere in my Heart
I know Its already Too Late ..

Avoid window seat, it causes blood clot !!!

Most of the obese passengers would have the risk of blood clot if they sit in the window seat in flights. The research says that a DVT clot can cause death if it passes through a passenger's bloodstream to the lungs, causing pulmonary embolism..

A RECENT research by a group of experts of the Leiden University Medical Centre says that people, who sit by the window face in the flight, possess the risk of developing a fatal blood clot than those who sit either in the middle or aisle seats.

Generally passengers find it easier to fall asleep if they sit in window seats. A long hour sleep also helps to reduce the risk of developing a DVT during a long journey by air. While speaking to the media, the concerned researchers of the Leiden University Medical Centre said, “Passengers in a window seat had a two-fold increase in risk compared to those in an aisle seat, while there was no increase in risk in those in middle seats. One explanation may be that passengers are in a more cramped position in a window seat.”The study report also says that flying business class reduces the risk of a DVT by 30 per cent.

AWESOME REPLY!!!!!!!

Arthur Ashe, the legendary Wimbledon player was dying of AIDS which he got due to infected blood he received during a heart surgery in 1983.
From the world over, he received letters from his fans, one of which conveyed: "Why does GOD have to select you for such a bad disease"?
To this Arthur Ashe replied:
"The world over -- 50 million children start playing tennis, 5 million learn to play tennis, 500,000 learn professional tennis, 50,000 come to the circuit, 5000 reach the grand slam, 50 reach Wimbledon, 4 to the semi final, 2 to the finals, when I was holding the cup I never asked GOD 'Why me?'.
And today in pain I should not be asking GOD 'Why me?
' We count our pains, but not our blessings'.

How Do You Lose Weight????

The more people I meet who are overweight, the more I realize just how frustrated they are with their current situation. Most people have tried repeatedly to lose weight and are still stuck or even heavier. There are certain things when losing weight that need to be done on a consistent basis if you want to have any chance at weight loss and shedding those extra pounds.

The need for losing weight
The fact is that overweight people are more prone to high blood pressure, diabetes and heart problems. There is also the risk of having joint problems, personality disorder, inferiority complex, depression, etc. There is a real need to work consistently towards weight loss, as the risks are way too big.
The following are things that you should incorporate into your daily schedule. This, over time, will help you lose weight.

Get the help of a doctor to set goals
No job can be accomplished in one go. Any work approached step by step will become easy, be it weight loss or weight gain. It is imperative to set goals while working on weight reduction. The goals set must be sensible and achievable. Setting a goal to reduce 3-5 kg per month may be possible and becomes a sensible goal. Trying to lose 20 kg per month is unrealistic.
It is always better to get the help of the health professionals to set and achieve goals. Regardless of sex, if you are active you will need just about 2500 calories per day in energy. Inactive men and women will need about 2000 calories. If you eat 200 to 300 calories less every day, losing 1 pound per week is possible.

Exercise
Exercise for at least 30 minutes every day is a must for weight loss. The exercise can be anything like walking, jogging, swimming, yoga, aerobic dancing etc., but the exercise must be done regularly and continuously for a minimum of thirty minutes. The idea is nothing but using more energy than one eats. This way one will use the energy stored in the form of fat. If you can ensure that the exercise makes you sweat, then you are on the right track.

Eating less sugar and less fat
Eating sugar and fat in excess really does nothing more then add more fat to the fat cells. If the body has no need to use the sugar and fat as energy, it will store it for later use, which never comes. Every day, pay attention to what you are eating and the contents, i.e. the sugar and fat. If you can consciously limit sugar and fat every day, you will be on your way to losing weight.

Eating wide variety of food
Think about consuming a variety of fruits and vegetables every week. I know you don't like them. Well, that is an issue you need to get over. High quantities of fruits and vegetables will go a long way at not only providing the nutrients your body needs, but they are very good for your metabolism and help raise it so you can keep your weight loss moving forward and eventually balanced.

Fad diets
Fad diets are not the answer. Put all your diet books on the shelf and simply start eating better and doing more exercise. Do this consistently and your weight loss will be successful.

The woman in your life!!!!!

Tomorrow you may get a working woman,
but you should marry her with these facts as well.

Here is a girl, who is as much educated as you are;
Who is earning almost as much as you do;

One, who has dreams and aspirations just as you have
because she is as human as you are;

One, who has never entered the kitchen in her life just like
you or your Sister haven't, as she was busy in studies and
competing in a system that gives no special concession
to girls for their culinary achievements;

One, who has lived and loved her parents & brothers & sisters,
almost as much as you do for 20-25 years of her life;

One, who has bravely agreed to leave behind all that, her home,

people who love her, to adopt your home, your family, your ways

and even your family ,name;

One, who is somehow expected to be a master-chef from day #1,
while you sleep oblivious to her predicament in her new
circumstances,environment and that kitchen;

One, who is expected to make the tea, first thing in the morning
and cook food at the end of the day, even if she is as tired as you
are, maybe more, and yet never ever expected to complain;

to be a servant, a cook, a mother, a wife, even if she doesn't want to;
and is learning just like you are as to what you want from her;
and is clumsy and sloppy at times and knows that you won't like it if
she is too demanding, or if she learns faster than you;

One, who has her own set of friends, and that includes boys and
even men at her workplace too, those, who she knows from school
days and yet is willing to put all that on the back-burners to avoid
your irrational jealousy, unnecessary competition and your inherent
insecurities;

Yes, she can drink and dance just as well as you can,
but won't, simply

Because you won't like it, even though you say otherwise

One, who can be late from work once in a while when deadlines,
just like yours, are to be met;

One, who is doing her level best and wants to make this most important,
relationship in her entire life a grand success, if you just help her some
and trust her;

One, who just wants one thing from you, as you are the only one
she knows in your entire house - your unstinted support, your
sensitivities and most importantly - your understanding, or love,
if you may call it.

But not many guys understand this......

Please appreciate "HER"

OPRAH : Millioniare

HOW IT ALL BEGAN ....

Born in Kosciusko, Mississippi, Oprah Winfrey was reared by her grandmother on a farm where she "began her broadcasting career" by learning to read aloud and perform recitations at the age of three. From age six to 13, she lived in Milwaukee with her mother. After suffering abuse and molestation, she ran away and was sent to a juvenile detention home at the age of 13, only to be denied admission because all the beds were filled. As a last resort, she was sent to Nashville to live under her father's strict discipline. Vernon Winfrey saw to it that his daughter met a midnight curfew, and he required her to read a book and write a book report each week. "As strict as he was," says Oprah, "he had some concerns about me making the best of my life, and would not accept anything less than what he thought was my best."

HER CAREER ....

Oprah Winfrey's broadcasting career began at age 17, when she was hired by WVOL radio in Nashville, and two years later signed on with WTVF-TV in Nashville as a reporter/anchor. She attended Tennessee State University, where she majored in Speech Communications and Performing Arts.

In 1976, she moved to Baltimore to join WJZ-TV news as a co-anchor, and in 1978 discovered her talent for hosting talk shows when she became co-host of WJZ-TV's "People Are Talking," while continuing to serve as anchor and news reporter.

In January 1984, she came to Chicago to host WLS-TV's "AM Chicago," a faltering local talk show. In less than a year, she turned "AM Chicago" into the hottest show in town. The format was soon expanded to one hour, and in September 1985 it was renamed "The Oprah Winfrey Show."

Seen nationally since September 8, 1986, "The Oprah Winfrey Show" became the number one talk show in national syndication in less than a year. In June 1987, in its first year of eligibility, "The Oprah Winfrey Show" received three Daytime Emmy Awards in the categories of Outstanding Host, Outstanding Talk/Service Program and Outstanding Direction. In June 1988, "The Oprah Winfrey Show" received its second consecutive Daytime Emmy Award as Outstanding Talk/Service Program, and she herself received the International Radio and Television Society's "Broadcaster of the Year" Award. She was the youngest person and only the fifth woman ever to receive the honor in IRTS's 25-year history.

CONQUERING AMERICA...

Before America fell in love with Oprah Winfrey the talk show host, she captured the nation's attention with her poignant portrayal of Sofia in Steven Spielberg's 1985 adaptation of Alice Walker's novel, The Color Purple. Winfrey's performance earned her nominations for an Oscar and Golden Globe Award in the category of Best Supporting Actress. Critics again lauded her performance in Native Son, a movie adaptation of Richard Wright's classic 1940 novel.

LOVE OF ACTING ...

Her love of acting and her desire to bring quality entertainment projects into production prompted her to form her own production company, HARPO Productions, Inc., in 1986. Today, HARPO is a formidable force in film and television production. Based in Chicago, HARPO Entertainment Group includes HARPO Productions, Inc., HARPO Films and HARPO Video, Inc. In October, 1988, HARPO Productions, Inc. acquired ownership and all production responsibilities for "The Oprah Winfrey Show" from Capitol Cities/ABC, making Oprah Winfrey the first woman in history to own and produce her own talk show. The following year, HARPO produced it first television miniseries, the The Women of Brewster Place, with Oprah Winfrey as star and Executive Producer. It has been followed by the TV movies There Are No Children Here (1993), and Before Women Had Wings(1997), which she both produced and appeared in. In 1998, she starred in the feature film Beloved, from the book by the Nobel Prize-winning American author Toni Morrison.

THE OPRAH BILL...

In 1991, motivated in part by her own memories of childhood abuse, she initiated a campaign to establish a national database of convicted child abusers, and testified before a U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee on behalf of a National Child Protection Act. President Clinton signed the "Oprah Bill" into law in 1993, establishing the national database she had sought, which is now available to law enforcement agencies and concerned parties across the country.

ACHIEVEMENT...

Oprah Winfrey was named one of the 100 Most Influential People of the 20th Century by Time Magazine, and in 1998 received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Her influence extended to the publishing industry when she began an on-air book club. Oprah Book Club selections became instant bestsellers, and in 1999 she was presented with the National Book Foundation's 50th anniversary gold medal for her service to books and authors.

She is one of the partners in Oxygen Media, Inc., a cable channel and interactive network presenting programming designed primarily for women. In 2000, Oprah's Angel Network began presenting a $100,000 "Use Your Life Award" to people who are using their lives to improve the lives of others. When Forbes magazine published its list of America's billionaires for the year 2003, it disclosed that Oprah Winfrey was the first African-American woman to become a billionaire.

Great Man : NELSON MANDELLA

Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was born in Transkei, South Africa on July 18, 1918. His father was Chief Henry Mandela of the Tembu Tribe. Mandela himself was educated at University College of Fort Hare and the University of Witwatersrand and qualified in law in 1942. He joined the African National Congress in 1944 and was engaged in resistance against the ruling National Party's apartheid policies after 1948. He went on trial for treason in 1956-1961 and was acquitted in 1961.

After the banning of the ANC in 1960, Nelson Mandela argued for the setting up of a military wing within the ANC. In June 1961, the ANC executive considered his proposal on the use of violent tactics and agreed that those members who wished to involve themselves in Mandela's campaign would not be stopped from doing so by the ANC. This led to the formation of Umkhonto we Sizwe. Mandela was arrested in 1962 and sentenced to five years' imprisonment with hard labour. In 1963, when many fellow leaders of the ANC and the Umkhonto we Sizwe were arrested, Mandela was brought to stand trial with them for plotting to overthrow the government by violence. His statement from the dock received considerable international publicity. On June 12, 1964, eight of the accused, including Mandela, were sentenced to life imprisonment. From 1964 to 1982, he was incarcerated at Robben Island Prison, off Cape Town; thereafter, he was at Pollsmoor Prison, nearby on the mainland.

During his years in prison, Nelson Mandela's reputation grew steadily. He was widely accepted as the most significant black leader in South Africa and became a potent symbol of resistance as the anti-apartheid movement gathered strength. He consistently refused to compromise his political position to obtain his freedom.

Nelson Mandela was released on February 11, 1990. After his release, he plunged himself wholeheartedly into his life's work, striving to attain the goals he and others had set out almost four decades earlier. In 1991, at the first national conference of the ANC held inside South Africa after the organization had been banned in 1960, Mandela was elected President of the ANC while his lifelong friend and colleague, Oliver Tambo, became the organisation's National Chairperson.

BackStreet Boys : Passionate

They are recognised as the biggest pop group in the world of music today having dominated the charts throughout the world since 1996. In just four years BACKSTREET BOYS (Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell, A.J. McLean and Kevin Richardson) have accomplished this global domination by achieving Gold and Platinum awards in 45 countries, including 11-times platinum in the USA for their debut album "Backstreet Back" and have sold over 51 million albums world-wide. The group have recently been hailed as one of the fastest selling acts in South East Asia where the album "Millennium" sold in excess of three million copies.

BACKSTREET BOYS have been honoured with numerous awards and in the last twelve months alone this has included four Billboard Music Awards, five Grammy nominations, three World Music Awards, an MTV Europe Award as well as two American MTV Award nominations.

BACKSTREET BOYS' success is set to continue with the release of their fourth album "Black & Blue" in November of this year. The group members have taken a lead role in the writing and producing of the 14-track album which covers a broad spectrum of m
usical styles. Brian Littrell explains: "It's probably the most diverse album we have ever made and we hope everyone really likes it. This album is a little more real, it talks about life and loss, love and cheating, all aspects of life. It's a very diverse album".

So how did five boys from America rise to the top so fast? BACKSTREET BOYS' story began in Orlando, Florida. It was there that high school students A.J. McLean, Howie Dorough and junior high student Nick Carter began to run into each other at local acting auditions. The three became friends and formed a singing group. The trio then decided to expand. Kevin Richardson was the next to join the group, and soon Kevin箂 cousin Brian Littrell completed the fivesome. They quickly became one of Florida箂 hottest live acts and were signed immediately.

In 1995, BACKSTREET BOYS released their first single, "We箆e Got It Goin' On", an urban pop song by writer/producer Denniz PoP. The song took off in
Europe, UK and across the world - BSB's brand of R&B/pop was gaining a foothold. In Europe, BACKSTREET BOYS entered a market which was familiar with 'boy bands', but unlike a lot of those other groups, BACKSTREET BOYSwere more than just a bunch of pretty guys - they could sing. Their live shows proved it with sweet acapella harmonies driving audiences wild. Meanwhile, their second single, "I'll Never Break Your Heart" climbed the charts.

BACKSTREET BOYS kicked off 1996 by being voted No.1 International Group by TV viewers in Germany - "I'll Never Break Your Heart" went gold there and
hit No.1 in Austria. By February, they had hit similar heights in Canada and BSB sold out show after show - some within 20 minutes of tickets going on sale. Hordes of screaming fans soon became the stuff of legend across Europe and Canada. If BSB could accomplish that with only two singles, imagine the reaction when the debut album saw the light of day!

That summer, BSB embarked on a sold-out 57 date headlining European Tour. By autumn, BSB fever had swept Asia and Australia. Still on the road, the band wrapped up a second European Tour before the end of the year - including 13 dates in Britain.

If 1996 was the year of International success, then 1997 was homecoming year as BSB turned their attention to the one place which had eluded them - America. They released "Quit Playin' Games" in America in the summer and it rocketed to the Top 2 of the Billboard Hot 100. Their first album release in America was "Backstreet's Back" in August and BSB have now shown America what the rest of the world already knows - BACKSTREET BOYS is a success story in motion. Summer 1998 saw t
he group undertake their first major U.S. Tour - sold out venues across the country from July through September.

BSB filmed three big-budget videos for their new album, all of which show the band at the height of its powers and having fun. The video for "Everybody (Backstreet箂 Back)", a UK No.3 hit single, was an epic drama, a special-effects laden classic horror spoof featuring BSB made up as monsters from the silver screen's vintage best. The video for second single "As Long As You Love Me" was a fun, personality piece with the Boys as you've never seen them before. "All I Have To Give" was the third single from the album. All the video's where huge hits on MTV and music video channels throughout the world.

In August 1997, BSB performed a new stadium tour of Germany and Austria. The sold-out shows, which took the BSB live experience to around 350,000 people in two weeks, featured pyrotechnics, new routines and a few surprises.

BACKSTREET BOYS mania meanwhile took off in the U.S. - their first album "Backstreet's Back" went gold soon after release and the group spent some time in September consolidating their home fanbase with a series of concerts across the USA, culminating in a memorable New York show on 30 September. In the meantime, the new album "Backstreet's Back" sold well over 1 million copies worldwide in the first week of release!

BSB spent the summer of 1998 on their first mammoth tour of their native USA which kicke
d off on 8th July in Charlotte, North Carolina and took the group back and forth across America for two months. After the end of the tour in September, they went into the studio to complete their third album, "Millennium". On 10 September, BSB won Best-Group Video Award at the annual MTV Music Awards ceremony in Los Angeles.

"Millennium" was released in May 1999 and included the hit single "I Want It That Way". This album confirmed the group箂 status as one of the worlds biggest pop acts ever. This album alone has sold over 20 million copies in 43 countries across the world and achieved multi-platinum status in 28 different countries.

To coincide with the eagerly awaited release of their fourth album, "Black & Blue", BSB will undertake a gruelling four day tour, taking in six continents from Stockholm to Tokyo, Sydney, Rio, Cape Town and New York where they will experience six simultaneous release days. On each continent they will perform an acappella of the first single from the album "Shape of My Heart" for their fans.

The new single "Shape Of My Heart" has charted so far top 5 in the following countries: #1 Sweden and Norway, #1 Thailand, #1 Hong Kong, #1 Indonesia, #2 Germany, Denmark, Italy and Spain, #3 Canada, #4 Switzerland, #5 Holland, Australia and Austria

BACKSTREET BOYS' fourth album "Black & Blue" will be released on Zomba Records in November 2000.

Life Story : Rihanna

"I think people are always looking for something that's new, something fresh, something different, My music doesn't have a specific genre, it's a fusion of reggae, hip-hop, and R&B. People haven't heard a lot of that, and they seem to like it."

Robyn Rihanna Fenty (born on February 18, 1988), Rihanna was born on the Caribbean island of Barbados in the parish of St. Michael. She was discovered by Music producer Evan Rogers while he was vacationing in Barbados with his wife Jackie, who is also a Bajan. Rogers, along with his partner Carl Sturken, helped Rihanna record demo material that was sent to various recording companies including Def Jam, where Rihanna auditioned for CEO Jay - Z and was signed on-the-spot.

bean to re-energize a dry, stale season of the same old song and dance. And with summer fast approaching there couldn't be a better time for Barbados-born singer Rihanna to break into an industry that is eager to celebrate the next big thing.

Thanks to multi-platinum island-born superstars like Sean Paul, Shaggy and Elephant Man, the mainstream has been primed for a rhythmic female star to step into the forefront of popular music. Besides ripping traditional reggae tracks like a seasoned dancehall queen, the stunning 17-year-old Rihanna possesses a powerful singing voice that conjures up feelings and experiences way beyond her years.

There's nothing like the warm spirit of the CaribRihanna is a North American R&B/Soul singer. Most of the worldly population would also classify her as a tradtional dancehall singer; who has splurged onto the entertainment scene unexpectedly.

It's no wonder that all it took was a quick audition with Shawn Carter, President and CEO of Def Jam Recordings, for the green-eyed beauty to solidify a recording contract with the multi-million dollar record company. While that performance ended up changing her life forever, the sweet natured island girl laughs at her own naivet×™ at the time. "I was in the lobby shaking!," remembers Rihanna with a healthy dose of her Bajan accent hanging onto every one of her words. "I saw just a little bit of Jay's face down the hall and I was just like, 'Oh my God!' I had never met a celebrity, and to meet a celebrity who's also the president of the label, that was crazy!!"

Luckily Rihanna was able to shake the jitters as soon as she started her impromptu showcase, a performance that forced her future label bosses to sign the deal before she walked out of their offices. "We were there until 4:30 in the morning closing the deal. Every time I signed my name I was just smiling." Growing up in the parish of St. Michael, Barbados, it never occurred to Rihanna that one day she would be sitting in the company of mega music moguls.

Before moving to the US in 2005, Rihanna lived somewhat of a simple life on her home island where she attended high school and like most teenage girls sang songs for fun with her friends. Aside from winning her school's beauty and talent pageant, Rihanna never realized how talented she really was until she attracted the attention of a New York City music producer named Evan Rogers.

Evan and his partner, Carl Sturken, have produced hits for such artists as Christina Aguilera, Ruben Studdard and Kelly Clarkson. Evan and his Barbadian wife Jackie were vacationing over Christmas near Rihanna’s hometown and through a mutual friend were introduced to the young diva. After hearing her belt out a couple of tunes Evan realized Rihanna’s future star power and invited her to New York to record some tracks.

Rihanna, Evan and Carl ended up creating close to a dozen songs. Together they pulled inspiration from the dancehall and reggae that are embedded in Rihanna’s rich musical culture and fused it with a fresh R&B soul sound - a mixture Rihanna likes to compare to one of her favorite Caribbean dishes, callaloo. "It's like a gumbo or a stew," explains Rihanna. "My music is mostly Caribbean beats mixed with R&B. I don't want to be pigeon holed into being just a dance artist because I can sing too. I have ballads on the album as well as upbeat tracks."

Rihanna’s debut album promises to have all the ingredients that make musical magic. And like her influences Beyonce, Alicia Keys, and Mariah Carey, Rihanna is a talented songwriter who has co-written much of her album. "Music is in my D.N.A.!" exclaims the bright eyed singer.

Her first single "Pon De Replay" is sure to mash up dancehalls worldwide with Rihanna’s soul stirring vocals demanding the DJ to play her song again and again 'til it touches every single person within earshot. With tracks featuring both Elephant Man and Vybz Kartel, Rihanna is guaranteed to supply some serious heat for both radio and clubs nationwide.

Rihanna is indeed living a real life Cinderella story. "If I hadn't met Evan and Carl I might have just been dreaming forever," she muses. "I am so thankful for everything they’ve done for me." Soon the whole world will be giving both Rihanna and her producers thanks.

EXPLODING STAR DESCRIBED IN QURAN FROM NASA

The Cat's Eye Nebula
Credit: J.P. Harrington and K.J. Borkowski (U. Maryland), HST, NASA

Explanation: Three thousand light-years away, a dying star throws off shells of glowing gas. This image from the Hubble Space Telescope reveals The Cat's Eye Nebula to be one of the most complex planetary nebulae known. In fact, the features seen in the Cat's Eye are so complex that astronomers suspect the bright central object may actually be a binary star system. The term planetary nebula, used to describe this general class of objects, is misleading. Although these objects may appear round and planet-like in small telescopes, high resolution images reveal them to be stars surrounded by cocoons of gas blown off in the late stages of stellar evolution. On planet Earth, of course, cats and other creatures may be on the prowl tonight. Keep your eyes peeled and have a safe and happy Halloween!

10 Anger Management Tips

  • One step back - Always take a step back from situations when you feel the area is hostile. When you are angry at someone you are talking to, take a step back to remind yourself to relax and be calm. Why stepping back help? By stepping back you leave the "hostile area" mentally and allow yourself space to cool down. When you are near somebody you are arguing with, you tend to have bigger reactions that may lead to fights. Will you stand in an area where bullets are flying?
  • Deep breathing - Take 3 deep breath and focus on the breath that you exhale through your mouth. Taking deep breaths help you to stay calm and sane.

  • TIE - TIE stands for take it easy. Keep repeating to yourself to take it easy and picture the words. It would be better to incorporate with deep breathing for better results.

  • Time Out! - Arguing with someone? Is the situation getting out of hand? Most probably both of you are not too calm and in the right mind to talk about anything. Ask for a time out, take whatever time off you feel that is appropriate and bring yourself to a level where you are calm and relax before you talk about anything.
  • Exercise - Go exert yourself. Jog, swim, hit the gym or whatever exercise that you prefer. Exercising allows you to release the stress and frustration that is locked in the body. Let the steam out to ease the pressure.

  • Anger log - Keep a book on recording your anger. Find out the patterns and triggers that lead you to feel angry. Once you identify the problem, you can then find a solution. Pause button - Decide an action that will be your pause button. An example would be to imagine a button on your forehead. When you are angry, press the pause button and Stop! This action will allow you time to think and make a conscious decision.
  • Avoid extreme words - Avoid words such as "always" or "never" . "They are always finding fault with me" or "They never even help me once before". These words are mostly not true and using this words can help to self convince you and cause the situation to worsen.
  • 10 funny counts - Forget about the old fashioned "count to 10 you are fine" talk. Use the 10 funny counts instead. When you are angry, just count( repeat after me ) "1 funny clown, 2 funny pig, 3 funny bananas, 4 funny red nose boss, 5 funny short giraffe... etc. Our brain works better with pictures, when you say something funny, you will tend to imagine it in the mind. Don't believe me? Lets try. Don't think of a pink elephant with black polka dots. What is in your mind?
  • Visualization - The theory behind this tip is the same as tip number 9. Visualize something funny you are angry at. Are you angry with your boss because he yelled at you for something that you didn't do. Now look at him hard and come out with a big mental picture. Picture him fatter, balloon him up, put a pair of dorky spectacles on him, a big red nose and he kept falling over when he is yelling. Are you able to get angry at the new mental picture of your boss now? Hard to do, I believe.

  • Pause button - Decide an action that will be your pause button. An example would be to imagine a button on your forehead. When you are angry, press the pause button and Stop! This action will allow you time to think and make a conscious decision.
